Recognizing the growing need for an experienced, compassionate, and dedicated immigration attorneys in Jacksonville, Florida, Karen opened the Law Office of Karen Winston, LLC. At the Law Office of Karen Winston, we put our clients’ needs first. Karen helps her clients navigate the complicated immigration system every step of the way. With initial strategy sessions and frequent communication throughout the process, Karen helps her clients to try and achieve the best possible outcome for themselves and their families. Karen understands that communication and preparation are critical in successfully navigating complicated immigration cases. Karen is committed to providing a high quality representation in all types of immigration cases including representation before any Immigration Court in the U.S., the Board of Immigration Appeals, Federal Courts, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Karen is licensed by the Supreme Court of Florida, and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Karen received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Florida Coastal School of Law. Karen is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and currently serves as the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations liaison for the Central Florida Chapter of AILA. Karen is a member of the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild and also serves on the state and local board for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Florida.

Cassandra Paniagua

Attorney

Cassandra Paniagua is an Associate Attorney at the Law Office of Karen Winston where she focuses on removal/deportation defense. She represents clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Immigration Courts. Cassandra Paniagua graduated from FSU law in May 2018. Originally from Clewiston, Florida, she earned a dual bachelor’s degree in criminology and sociology with a minor in communication studies from the University of Florida. Cassandra participated in the Public Interest Law Center throughout law school where she worked at the Children’s Advocacy Clinic, representing children in a variety of cases ranging from disability to immigration to education. Cassandra also clerked for Disability Rights Florida, worked on the Healthcare Access Project, participated in the Alternative Spring Break Program, and clerked for multiple immigration law firms during law school. For her dedication to pro bono representation, Cassandra received the distinguished pro bono certificate. Cassandra is fluent in Spanish and is licensed to practice law by the Florida Bar.

Joseph is the Office Manager at the Law Office of Karen Winston. Joseph ensures our clients receive excellent service and only the highest-quality experience with our office. Joseph is a proud father and enjoys debating politics in his free time (and sometimes at the office too).

Elizabeth Batista

Elizabeth Batista, “Liz”, is originally from Mexico and immigrated to the U.S. when she was just minor. Liz is the wife of a United States Veteran. As a paralegal with the Law Office of Karen Winston, Liz focuses on Family based cases along with U-visa applications, self-petitions under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and Naturalization applications. Liz considers herself an immigrant. As such, Liz understands and is able to personally relate to the pain families who are separated endure, and the joy they experience when given the opportunity to stay together. Liz is a positive person who takes pride in making a difference in clients’ lives.

Crisciedi Diaz

Crisceidi “Cris” is originally from Cuba and immigrated to the U.S. when she was fourteen years old. As a paralegal with the Law Office of Karen Winston, Cris focuses on U-visa applications, self-petitions under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and Naturalization applications. Being an immigrant herself, Cris is able to personally relate to the pain families who are separated endure, and the joy they experience when given the opportunity to stay together. Cris is a positive person who takes pride in making a difference in clients’ lives. When not in the office, Cris is a supermom to three handsome boys.

Raquel Castillo-Orozco

Raquel is originally from Mexico. In her role as our Administrative Assistant, Raquel makes sure that each and every single one of our clients or potential client receives timely and thorough responses to any questions which may arise during our representation. We like to say that Raquel makes sure that the train is running on time and ensures that it is running smoothly. Raquel is the mother to a beautiful little girl named Rosa.
